BANGKOK — Thailand is warning travellers and mariners as heavy rain and rough seas affect parts of the country.
The Thai Meteorological Department says the upper Andaman Sea will see waves of 2 to 3 metres, rising above 3 metres during thunderstorms. Small boats should remain ashore, while mariners are advised to avoid storm areas.
The warning is especially relevant to visitors travelling around Phuket, Phang Nga and nearby islands, where ferries, speedboats and marine tourism can be affected by rough conditions.
The alert does not mean all Thai beaches or transport routes are closed. Conditions vary by location, and travellers should check official forecasts and local operators before departure.
