The UK government advises households to keep essential emergency supplies such as drinking water, long-life food, flashlights, power banks and medication in case normal services are disrupted.
Its Prepare guidance recommends around 2.5 to 3 litres of water per person per day for basic survival, along with food that can be eaten without cooking.
The advice is part of general emergency preparedness for risks including power cuts, flooding, severe weather and other crises. It is not an official order to stockpile supplies because war is imminent.
Britain is also strengthening National Resilience and defence readiness, but there is currently no official government announcement saying a “major war is coming” or directing the public to prepare specifically for war.
