Montfort College has issued a formal report detailing its response and security measures after messages circulated through a LINE OpenChat group on August 10 at approximately 1:14 p.m.
The school assessed the messages as potentially threatening to student safety, prompting concern among students, parents and members of the school community.
After receiving the information, school officials immediately began verifying the facts, assessing potential risks and strengthening security measures, with the safety of students, teachers and staff treated as the highest priority.
1:14 p.m. — Messages appear; school officially notified at 1:45 p.m.
According to the school’s report, information and messages were circulated through a LINE OpenChat group at 1:14 p.m. on August 10, raising concerns about safety on campus.
At 1:45 p.m., a parent formally alerted the school. The information was immediately forwarded to the student affairs department for an initial examination.
School administrators were then informed so that the level of risk could be assessed and appropriate measures determined.
2:00 p.m. — Mae Ping Police contacted
At 2:00 p.m., approximately 15 minutes after the school was officially notified, the student affairs team held an urgent meeting and contacted Mae Ping Police Station.
Preliminary information was provided to police, while the school and authorities coordinated preventive measures and began examining the origin of the messages and individuals who might be connected to them.
The inquiry included the account that posted the messages, images of weapons circulated in the chat group, and the alleged unauthorized use of names or images belonging to school personnel.
The school said relevant digital information and other evidence had been preserved to assist the authorities’ investigation.
3:40 p.m. — Police enter the campus and maintain heightened security
At 3:40 p.m., officers from Mae Ping Police Station arrived at the school and joined administrators, teachers and staff in inspecting the campus and surrounding areas.
Security at entrances and exits was tightened, while officers and school personnel increased surveillance for suspicious individuals, vehicles or other unusual activity.
The situation was monitored continuously until 7:30 p.m.
According to the school, no abnormal incident or event affecting campus safety was detected during that period.
Nevertheless, the school and police agreed to maintain heightened precautions and prepared additional security measures for the morning of August 11.
6:00 a.m. — Security intensified as students arrive
Beginning at 6:00 a.m. on August 11, police resumed patrols inside and around the school.
Teachers and staff conducted student screening and checked belongings as part of the enhanced security measures. The school said the procedures were carried out appropriately while respecting students’ rights, dignity and safety.
Security personnel were also instructed to closely monitor people and vehicles entering or leaving the campus.
Students were provided with channels through which they could directly report concerns or request assistance.
10:00 a.m. — No abnormal incident detected
By 10:00 a.m. on August 11, joint monitoring by the school and police had found no incident or abnormal activity affecting campus safety, according to the report.
Despite the absence of an incident, the school said heightened monitoring would continue alongside police coordination and further investigation into the facts surrounding the messages.
The school will also use the incident to review its emergency-response plans, security systems and crisis communication procedures, while strengthening guidance on responsible digital-media use.
Montfort College said the report was issued to provide parents and other concerned parties with a clear account of the incident and the measures taken to protect the school community.
