กระทั่งวันที่ 6 สิงหาคม 2569 เรือรบ KRI Kerambit-627 เข้าสกัด MV King Sun บริเวณทางเหนือของ Tanjung Berakit จังหวัดหมู่เกาะเรียว ก่อนนำไปสู่การตรวจค้นอย่างละเอียดในวันที่ 7 สิงหาคม
ผลการตรวจค้นทำให้เจ้าหน้าที่ถึงกับผงะ เมื่อพบกระเป๋าจำนวน 65 ใบ ภายในบรรจุคีตามีนรวมเกือบ 1.3 ตัน นับเป็นยาเสพติดปริมาณมหาศาล และทำให้คดีนี้ถูกจับตาในฐานะหนึ่งในปฏิบัติการสกัดยาเสพติดทางทะเลครั้งสำคัญ
MV King Sun ชักธงแทนซาเนีย ขณะที่บนเรือมีลูกเรือทั้งหมด 8 คน เป็นชาวเมียนมา 7 คน และชาวไต้หวัน 1 คน เจ้าหน้าที่ควบคุมตัวทั้งหมดไว้สอบสวน เพื่อขยายผลไปถึงผู้สั่งการ ผู้ส่ง ผู้รับ และเครือข่ายที่เกี่ยวข้อง

Indonesia has intercepted the MV King Sun after intelligence indicated that the vessel had departed Thailand and was heading toward Indonesia. A subsequent search uncovered nearly 1.3 tons of ketamine, commonly known as “K,” concealed aboard the ship, triggering a major investigation into a suspected transnational drug trafficking network.
Indonesian intelligence authorities had reportedly been tracking the vessel since February 2026 after receiving information that the MV King Sun had left Thailand carrying suspicious cargo and was sailing east toward Indonesian waters.
On August 6, 2026, the Indonesian Navy warship KRI Kerambit-627 intercepted the MV King Sun north of Tanjung Berakit in the Riau Islands Province. Authorities conducted a detailed search of the vessel the following day.
What they discovered was staggering: 65 bags containing nearly 1.3 tons of ketamine.
The sheer volume of the seizure has turned the case into a major maritime narcotics investigation, with Indonesian authorities now working to identify the network behind the shipment.
The MV King Sun was sailing under the Tanzanian flag. Eight crew members were aboard — seven Myanmar nationals and one Taiwanese national. All were detained for questioning as investigators seek to identify the organizers, senders, intended recipients and other individuals connected to the operation.
Authorities also detected irregularities involving the vessel’s navigation and tracking information. Investigators are examining whether the MV King Sun may have operated as a so-called “dark ship,” potentially involving the disabling of tracking systems, manipulation of vessel data, or the use of questionable documentation to evade detection.
But the biggest question remains unanswered: Where did the nearly 1.3 tons of ketamine actually come from?
Although Indonesian intelligence information indicates that the vessel departed Thailand, there is currently no conclusion that the ketamine was produced in Thailand or loaded onto the vessel at a Thai port.
Investigators are now tracing the drugs’ origin, the location where they were loaded, possible ports or transfer points, the sender, intended recipient and the wider transnational network behind the shipment.
At this stage, what can be established is that Thailand appeared in the vessel’s route. That fact alone does not establish that Thailand was the source of the seized ketamine.
Attention will now turn to whether Indonesia’s investigation can uncover a larger international trafficking organization — and determine exactly where the massive shipment was loaded onto the MV King Sun, who sent it and where it was ultimately headed.
The answers could expose a criminal network far larger than the nearly 1.3-ton seizure itself.

如此巨大的毒品数量震动当地执法部门，也使这起案件成为备受关注的海上毒品走私案。目前，有关部门正在进一步追查其背后的跨国犯罪网络。
“MV King Sun”号悬挂坦桑尼亚国旗。船上共有8名船员，其中7人为缅甸籍，1人为台湾籍。目前相关人员均已被控制并接受调查，当局正试图进一步查明幕后组织者、发货方、收货方以及其他涉案人员。
案件还有另一个值得关注的疑点。
