ล่าสุด นายชวน หลีกภัย อดีตนายกรัฐมนตรี ออกมาแสดงจุดยืนอย่างตรงไปตรงมา โดยพุ่งเป้าไปที่การทำหน้าที่ของคณะกรรมการการเลือกตั้ง (กกต.) พร้อมเรียกร้องให้ตัดสินทุกเรื่องจากข้อเท็จจริง ไม่ใช่ความสัมพันธ์ส่วนตัวหรือบุญคุณทางการเมือง

นายชวนยกตัวอย่างว่า หากคนหนึ่งต้องใช้เงินประมาณ 500,000–700,000 บาท เพื่อซื้อเสียง ขณะที่นักการเมืองบางระดับอาจลงทุนหาเสียงถึง 80–100 ล้านบาท แต่เงินเดือนจากตำแหน่งอยู่ในระดับหลักหมื่นหรือหลักแสน ย่อมต้องตั้งคำถามถึงแรงจูงใจที่อยู่เบื้องหลังการลงทุนเหล่านั้น
เมื่อการเมืองถูกมองเป็นธุรกิจ การลงทุนย่อมตามมาด้วยความต้องการผลตอบแทน และหากระบบดังกล่าวขยายตัว ก็อาจกระทบต่อกลไกอื่นของรัฐตามมา

ประโยคที่สร้างแรงสะเทือนมากที่สุดคือ การพูดถึงกรณีผู้ดำรงตำแหน่งอาจรู้สึกว่าติดหนี้บุญคุณบุคคลที่เคยช่วยให้เข้าสู่อำนาจ
นายชวนระบุในทำนองว่า หากมีบุญคุณส่วนตัวและต้องการตอบแทน ก็สามารถรอจนบุคคลนั้นเสียชีวิตแล้วค่อยไปร่วมงานศพ เพื่อแสดงความกตัญญูตามประเพณี
แต่อย่านำบุญคุณมาใช้เป็นเหตุผลในการทำหน้าที่ผิดจากหลักความถูกต้อง
สาระสำคัญจึงไม่ได้อยู่ที่การตอบแทนบุญคุณส่วนตัว แต่อยู่ที่การรักษาความเป็นกลางขององค์กรที่มีหน้าที่ตรวจสอบการเลือกตั้ง
นายชวนยังเตือนว่า ไม่ควรตอบแทนบุญคุณด้วยการ “ทำผิดให้ถูก” เพื่อช่วยให้บุคคลหนึ่งหรือกลุ่มหนึ่งสามารถรักษาอำนาจทางการเมืองเอาไว้ได้
โดยเฉพาะองค์กรอย่าง กกต. ซึ่งมีหน้าที่สร้างความเชื่อมั่นว่ากระบวนการเลือกตั้งเป็นธรรมและอยู่ภายใต้กฎหมาย
นายชวนระบุว่า แม้จะมีความกังวลต่อสถานการณ์การเมือง แต่ยังเชื่อว่าสังคมไทยไม่ได้เลวร้ายไปทั้งหมด และยังมีคนดีที่พร้อมทำหน้าที่อย่างตรงไปตรงมา
ด้วยเหตุนี้จึงมีการทำหนังสือถึงประธาน กกต. เพื่อให้กำลังใจ พร้อมฝากให้ยึดหลักความถูกต้องในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่
สารที่ถูกส่งถึง กกต. จึงชัดเจนว่า หากมีหลักฐานว่าผิด ต้องกล้าชี้ว่าผิด หากหลักฐานยืนยันว่าถูก ต้องกล้ายืนยันว่าถูก
ไม่ว่าจะเกี่ยวข้องกับนักการเมือง กลุ่มอำนาจ หรือบุคคลที่มีความสัมพันธ์ส่วนตัวเพียงใด
เพราะท้ายที่สุด การตรวจสอบคดีฮั้ว ส.ว. ไม่ได้เป็นเพียงเรื่องของบุคคลใดบุคคลหนึ่ง แต่เกี่ยวข้องกับความน่าเชื่อถือของระบบการได้มาซึ่งผู้ใช้อำนาจรัฐ

The controversy surrounding the selection of Thailand’s senators, widely referred to as the “Senate collusion case,” remains under intense scrutiny as information continues to emerge concerning evidence, voting patterns and allegations that groups of candidates were systematically organized. Investigations by the relevant authorities are continuing.
Former Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai has now spoken out forcefully, directing his remarks at the Election Commission of Thailand and urging it to base every decision on facts and evidence rather than personal relationships or political debts of gratitude.
Chuan’s central message was clear:
“What is true must be recognized as true. What is right is right. What is wrong is wrong.”
Chuan also revisited the long-running problem of vote buying, arguing that Thailand’s political problems begin at the entry point of the system. If candidates are required to spend enormous amounts of money to secure political office while their official salaries could never recover such investments, politics risks being treated as “an investment made in expectation of returns.”
He cited examples in which a person might spend around 500,000–700,000 baht buying votes, while politicians at certain levels could spend as much as 80–100 million baht on election campaigns even though salaries from public office are only in the tens or hundreds of thousands of baht.
Such figures, he argued, inevitably raise questions about the motivations behind those investments.
Once politics is treated like a business, investment is naturally followed by an expectation of returns. If that system expands, its effects could spread into other mechanisms of the state.
Chuan then linked the issue of vote buying to allegations of collusion in the selection of senators, a matter that remains under investigation.
He called on the Election Commission to perform its duties straightforwardly and decide the case according to the evidence, without fear or favoritism toward powerful figures or individuals with political connections.
The 2024 Senate selection process, held on June 26, 2024, had previously drawn scrutiny and multiple allegations concerning organized candidate groups and voting patterns. Documents, voting lists, witness testimony and other evidence have reportedly been submitted for examination.
In 2026, reports have continued to emerge concerning the Election Commission’s consideration of the alleged Senate collusion case, with sharply differing views among the parties involved.
One of Chuan’s most striking remarks concerned officials who may feel personally indebted to those who helped them obtain positions of power.
Chuan said, in essence, that if someone owes a personal debt of gratitude and wishes to repay it, they can wait until that person dies and attend the funeral to express their gratitude according to tradition.
But personal gratitude, he stressed, must never be used as an excuse to abandon what is right in the performance of official duties.
The core issue, therefore, is not whether someone chooses to repay a personal favor. It is whether an institution responsible for overseeing elections can preserve its neutrality and integrity.
Chuan further warned that gratitude should never be repaid by “turning wrong into right” in order to help an individual or political group retain power.
That principle is especially important for an institution such as the Election Commission, whose duty is to ensure public confidence that elections are fair and conducted under the law.
Chuan said that although he remains concerned about Thailand’s political situation, he does not believe the entire society has deteriorated. He still believes there are good people who are prepared to carry out their duties honestly.
For that reason, a letter was sent to the chairman of the Election Commission offering encouragement while urging the commission to uphold the principle of correctness in carrying out its responsibilities.
The message to the Election Commission is therefore unmistakable: if the evidence proves wrongdoing, it must have the courage to say it is wrong. If the evidence proves innocence or correctness, it must also have the courage to say so.
This principle must apply regardless of whether the case involves politicians, powerful groups or individuals with personal connections.
Ultimately, the investigation into the alleged Senate collusion case is not merely about any single individual. It concerns the credibility of the entire system through which those exercising state power obtain their positions.

从买票问题出发，川·立派进一步谈到目前正在调查的参议员选举涉嫌串通问题。
他要求泰国选举委员会必须坦率、公正地履行职责，根据已经出现的证据作出判断，不应因为权势人物或政治关系而有所顾忌。

他的大意是，如果真的欠下私人恩情并希望报答，可以等到对方去世之后，再到葬礼上按照传统表达感恩。
但是，绝不能因为私人恩情而违背正确原则履行公职。
因此，这一问题的重点并不在于个人是否应该报恩，而在于负责监督选举的机构能否保持中立、公正与独立。
川·立派还警告，不应通过“把错误变成正确”的方式报答恩情，从而帮助某个人或某个政治集团继续维持政治权力。

无论案件涉及政治人物、权力集团，还是存在私人关系的人，都不应成为例外。
归根结底，对参议员涉嫌串通案件的调查，并不仅仅关系到某一个人，而是关系到整个国家权力产生机制的公信力。
