Thailand is offering airlines a 50% reduction in landing and aircraft parking charges at airports operated by the Department of Airports under its New Route–New Airline programme.

New routes can receive the discount for one year, while airlines newly serving eligible airports can receive it for six months. The scheme covers domestic and international flights.

Why it matters internationally: Thailand wants to attract more direct services to provincial destinations, reduce dependence on Bangkok gateways and support tourism and regional economies.

For travellers, this does not mean ticket prices will automatically fall by 50%. The discount applies to airline airport charges, not directly to passenger fares.

Why it fits Vihok News English: It links Thailand’s tourism strategy, aviation market and regional development with international airlines and travellers.
