The latest movement is now clear! The U.S. Navy’s nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) is heading toward Thailand after passing through the Strait of Malacca and the Singapore Strait. The carrier is scheduled to dock at Laem Chabang Port, Chonburi Province, from September 2–6, 2026, as planned.

According to USNI News, USS Abraham Lincoln, accompanied by the guided-missile cruiser USS Robert Smalls (CG-62), was spotted transiting the Strait of Malacca before the aircraft carrier passed through the Singapore Strait over the past weekend on its way to Thailand.
Reports stated that the ship was spotted near Singapore after 1:00 a.m. local time on August 30, 2026, before continuing its journey. Thailand will serve as a port call before the carrier heads back to the United States.

🔥 Around 5,000 Personnel Set for Rest and Recuperation in Thailand
The visit will involve approximately 5,000 U.S. sailors and Marines. The main purpose of the Thailand port call is Rest & Recreation, as well as logistical support, following an extended period of operations at sea.
The Thai military previously confirmed that the September 2–6 port call is a routine visit. It is not a joint military exercise and is not related to ammunition replenishment or preparations for military operations from Thai territory.

💪 Crew Seen Working Out Before Arrival in Thailand
Ahead of the carrier’s arrival in Thailand, images and videos have been released showing activities aboard the ship, including crew members exercising after the carrier passed through the Strait of Malacca and the Singapore Strait while entering the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.
The port call is particularly significant for the crew, as USS Abraham Lincoln has carried out operations in the Middle East and spent more than 250 consecutive days at sea without a major port visit, before USS George Washington took over its mission.

🇹🇭 Returning to Laem Chabang After 14 Years
USS Abraham Lincoln is no stranger to Thailand. Reports indicate that the carrier previously visited Laem Chabang in 2006 and 2012. Its 2026 visit therefore marks its return to Thailand after approximately 14 years.
Chonburi Province and Pattaya City have held meetings to prepare security measures, coordinating with police, administrative authorities, and relevant agencies to accommodate U.S. personnel expected to come ashore during the visit.

All eyes are now on September 2, 2026, when the massive USS Abraham Lincoln, carrying thousands of personnel, is scheduled to dock at Laem Chabang Port, marking a major rest and recreation stop in Thailand before the carrier returns to its home base in the United States.
