Thai textile traditions are finding new ways to reach international audiences through contemporary fashion, with Tita Style drawing attention for incorporating Phuket’s cultural identity into a jacket worn by Thai artist “Nene Royal,” Praew Rattikarn Amlory, on America’s Got Talent 2026.

The jacket is reported to have been designed by Thoop Nopmanee, identified as the founder and designer of Tita Style. Rather than presenting Thai identity through traditional dress alone, the design combines local textile patterns and jewelry with a contemporary rock-inspired silhouette.

From Phuket Batik to a Contemporary Jacket

A key element of the jacket is hand-painted batik featuring the “Chinese Wrench” pattern, sourced from Dalah Batik. The fabric was then incorporated into the jacket design by Tita Style.

The design also draws on the Baba–Peranakan cultural heritage associated with Phuket, giving the textile a connection to the island’s local identity.

Another distinctive element is the “Pin Tang” brooch, a traditional piece of jewelry associated with Phuket’s Peranakan heritage. It was incorporated near the chest of the jacket and combined with a chain to complement the contemporary design.

When Local Identity Travels Through Fashion

The project illustrates how cultural identity can be communicated through contemporary clothing rather than traditional costumes alone.

The batik, the Chinese Wrench pattern and the Pin Tang jewelry each carry connections to local craftsmanship and Phuket’s cultural heritage. Together, they become part of a modern fashion piece presented to an international audience.

For international viewers, the significance goes beyond the jacket itself. It offers a glimpse of how Thailand’s local cultural elements can be reinterpreted and presented in a contemporary global setting.

A Different Route for Thai Cultural Soft Power

The Tita Style story also highlights a broader possibility for Thailand’s cultural influence: it can begin with everyday creative industries such as textiles, craftsmanship, jewelry and fashion.

When local cultural materials are reinterpreted by designers and carried by artists onto international platforms, elements of Thai identity can reach audiences who may never encounter them through traditional cultural presentations.

From Phuket batik to a contemporary fashion jacket, the story shows how local heritage can travel internationally—not simply as a symbol of the past, but as part of modern creative expression.
