Thailand’s Parliament will reopen its second ordinary session of 2026 on August 25, 2026, with the session scheduled to run through December 22, 2026.
The new parliamentary session comes as the government led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul faces several major political and legislative issues at the same time.
One of the most immediate issues is the Emergency Decree authorizing the Ministry of Finance to borrow up to 400 billion baht. The House of Representatives is scheduled to consider the measure on August 26, 2026, with approximately 12–13 hours of debate planned before a vote is held on the same day.
Parliament will also have to address the 2027 national budget bill, the ongoing process to amend the Constitution, and parliamentary oversight of the government by the opposition.
Another major issue to watch is a possible no-confidence debate against the government. The opposition is expected to proceed with the process during the new parliamentary session, although the exact issues and timing for submitting the motion remain subject to further clarification.
Once Parliament reopens, House proceedings are expected to follow the established schedule, with regular meetings generally held twice a week, alongside additional Friday sessions in some weeks. Regular meetings are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
From August 25 onward, the Anutin government will therefore face simultaneous pressure from both its administrative agenda and parliamentary proceedings — ranging from the proposed 400-billion-baht borrowing measure and the 2027 budget to constitutional amendments and opposition scrutiny.
